Hilary Rosen is the new chair of BAFTA.
The British film and television academy announced the change on Monday, confirming that Rosen will succeed Sara Putt. Putt is stepping down after serving a three-year term. Rosen previously served as deputy chair, a position that now goes to Ade Rawcliffe and Andrew Miller, who will each serve two-year terms.
Rosen will lead the organization's efforts to support talent in film, games, and television through its awards and development programs. She has been a member of the BAFTA Television Committee since 2021 and later chaired that body. During her tenure there, she helped shape the TV and Craft Awards and oversaw their juries. Currently, Rosen works outside the academy as the director of commissioning at UKTV, where she manages the network's original scripted and unscripted content slate.
The new leadership structure includes several appointments to the Board of Trustees following an election process. Charu Desodt has been named the new chair for the Games Committee. Caroline Levy will lead the Television Committee. Nahrein Kemp will serve as the chair for the LIT Committee, which focuses on learning, industry, and technology. Shrina Shah, who currently chairs the governance and appointments committee, will also join the Board of Trustees.
Rosen described the role as a great privilege in a statement provided by the academy. She noted her long-standing passion for the organization's work in promoting screen arts. Rosen expressed confidence that the new board, including the appointed committee chairs, would continue the impactful work of its predecessors.
