Best Dell Gaming Laptop In 2023

1. Alienware X17 R2 Gaming Laptop

CPUIntel Core i9 – 12900H
GPURTX 3070Ti
RAM32GB
Storage1TB SSD

Alienware is an American Computer Hardware Subsidiary of Dell; a famous brand for manufacturing premium and powerful Gaming Laptops and Accessories. The all-new Alienware X17 R2 that comes with the latest 12th gen Intel Core i9 Processor, an RTX 3070Ti graphics card, and 32GB of RAM is the best and most powerful laptop in our list.

The display is a 17.3” FHD panel that supports a refresh rate of 480Hz. The response time of this panel is 1 ms and is 100%sRGB, which is fabulous! The display has a brightness of 325 nits which is bright enough for gaming purposes. The visuals and colors are sharp and crisp. It has a slim look with narrow bezels on the display that makes it look cool and somewhat Sci-Fi.

The build quality is very strong and the hinges are very stable. There is very minimal lid flex despite being a massive laptop with a 17.3” display, and there is no top or keyboard flex. The RGB effects create an awesome look; the Alienware Signature RGB strip in the back, an RGB-lit Alienware Logo, and 4-zone RGB in the keyboard.

This laptop comes with a highly responsive mechanical keyboard that has RGB LED backlighting, key travel of 1.5mm, and supports all-key anti-ghosting. The left portion of the keyboard comes with media control keys which come in very handy. The touchpad is not very big but operates smoothly.

The gaming performance on this laptop is mind-blowing. The cooling capability of this laptop is outstanding. At 1080p High and Ultra settings, it delivered more than 100 fps in all the games that we tested. The battery backup under light usage was around 2-2.5 hours which is not at all disappointing given its beefy specification.

Drawbacks:

  • Very bulky, weight almost 3.1kg.
  • Ports are at the rear, thus not easily accessible while using the laptop.

2. Alienware M15 R6

CPUIntel Core i7 – 11800H
GPURTX 3070
RAM32GB
Storage1TB SSD

The Alienware M15 R6 is also on of the best laptops manufactured by Dell, which comes with the Intel Core i7-11800H along with the powerful RTX 3070 graphics card and 32 gigs of memory.

The display is a 15.6-inch FHD display that supports a refresh rate of up to 360Hz. The display is 100%sRGB and has a brightness of 350 nits. The colors are vibrant and accurate. The top and bottom are built of Aluminium-Magnesium Alloy and the keyboard frame is made of high-quality plastic. The top lid flex and keyboard flex are minor and don’t affect the build quality that much. The hinges are of very high quality and there is barely any screen wobble. The RGB in it gives an awesome look, with the Alienware Signature RGB strip in the back, an RGB-lit Alienware Logo, and 4-zone RGB in the keyboard.

Continuing with the keyboard, the RGB backlit keyboard has a good typing and gaming feel to it. The key travel on this keyboard is 1.8mm. The trackpad is very small, and the user experience was very basic, but being a gaming laptop, the touchpad doesn’t have many functions in gaming, so it’s still okay.

Among all the AAA titles that we tested, the performance was very impressive. Even in heavy games like Forza Horizon 5, at 1080p Ultra preset it gave more than 80 fps easily without any throttling. The battery backup we got while typing, browsing, and playing videos on this laptop was around 5-5.5 hours, which is not bad given its specifications and the battery being an 86Whr battery. Overall the laptop performed well.

Drawbacks:

  • The touchpad is small.
  • Slightly on the heavier side, weighing around 2.5kg.

The most recent launch of Dell G16 comes with an Intel Core i7 12th gen processor paired with an Nvidia RTX 3050Ti and 64GB of dual channel DDR5 memory.

The display is a 165Hz QHD+ panel of 16-inch size. The display quality is of good quality and the brightness of the screen is quite satisfactory. The visuals are good and the colors are sharp and vibrant. The bezels are extremely thin giving the laptop a sleek and cool look. The build is made of good material and definitely feels premium in hand.

The keyboard is a 4-zone RGB backlit keyboard that is customizable through Dell’s software. The touchpad felt slightly smaller than usual, and the experience while using it was average; okay for short hours of usage, but can get irritating in long hours.

The gaming performance was outstanding. We tested many AAA titles on this laptop, but what impressed us the most was the performance it delivered in Red Dead Redemption 2. At 2K resolution and highest settings, it was able to run the game constantly delivering above 60 fps. The battery life is not very impressive, we got a backup of only 3.5-4 hours under light usages like typing, browsing, and video playback.

The 4-zone RGB keyboard is quite tactile, and typing and gaming is comfortable on it. Lookwise, the keyboard looks good and comes with a Numpad. The trackpad is positioned off-center; slightly towards the left and is small in size. The gaming performance on this laptop is impressive.

We ran many AAA titles on this laptop with High presets at 1080p resolution. In GTA V we got more than 90 fps constantly and even went above 100 fps sometimes. The keyboard comes with a Numpad and has 4-zone RGB backlighting which looks quite good. The typing and gaming feel on this laptop are amazing. The keyboard feels good to use and is quite tactile. The touchpad once again is pretty small due to the massive ventilation above the keyboard area. However, the touchpad is good to use and not much of a problem if you don’t plan on extensively using the touchpad.

Games perform really well on this laptop. In such a heavy GPU-intensive game like Red Dead Redemption 2, it managed to easily maintain 60+ fps constantly. For GTA V it gave more than 90 fps constant, and in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it gave 65-70 fps. All these games have been tested at 1080p High preset settings. The battery is an 86WHr battery which managed to give more than 6.5hours of backup under light usage like browsing, video playback, and typing, while under the load of constant gaming, it managed to last for slightly more than 3 hours; however, gaming on battery power is not recommended as it damages the battery.

Drawbacks:

  • Small touchpad.
  • The rear ports are not easily accessible while using the laptop.
