Best Lenovo Laptops Under $1000

1. Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop

CPUAMD Ryzen 5 – 5600H
GPUNvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti
RAM32GB
Storage2TB SSD

The first laptop on our list is the Lenovo Legion 5. This mighty laptop comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 – 5th generation processor, 32gigs of RAM, and RTX 3050Ti, along with 2TB of storage capacity to store all games and files.

The display is a 15.6inches Full-HD, 45%NTSC IPS panel of 250Nits brightness. The display is anti-glare and supports AMD FreeSync. The display quality is excellent. The colors are vibrant and sharp. The build quality is great. Both the chassis and the hinges are super sturdy and feel very durable.

The keyboard is of good quality. The typing feel is good, but I personally did not like the curved surface of the keys; I prefer flat keys more than these. However, there was no fatigue in using it. It might require a little bit of getting-used-to, but overall, not a problem to use. The trackpad is of good size and of good quality too. It is smooth to use and comfortable too.

The battery backup of this laptop is excellent compared to the specifications it offers. In our testing, while using it for typing, browsing, and video playback, it lasted for a solid 6-7hours duration. Being a gaming laptop, we tested games on it, and it aced that too. We tested AAA titles like Cyberpunk 2077, GTA V, Call of Duty, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Forza Horizon on it, and the performance was fabulous; it was at its full potential, and even the cooling was impressive.

Drawbacks:

  • Keycaps are curved and require getting used to.
  • Slightly heavy, weighing around 2.4kilos.

2. Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Laptop

GPUIntegrated Iris Xe Graphics
RAM36GB
Storage1TB SSD

It comes with a 17.3 inches TN panel LCD display of maximum resolution 1600×900. The contrast of the display is not that good since the display is on a TN panel instead of IPS, but it’s decent; although an IPS panel would be much more value for the money at this budget. The chassis is made of good material and the hinges are sturdy too. Build quality is not the factor that Lenovo has compromised with her.

The keyboard is a non-backlit full-size keyboard. The keyboard is good to use. Typing and overall user experience on this laptop was actually very good. We used it for long hours and there were no issues using it. The trackpad size is a major drawback of this laptop. It is extremely small, and honestly, it is very annoying.

If you are a user who has used other laptops previously, it will surely be annoying, although may not be much of a problem for first-time laptop users. The response and sensitivity of the trackpad is good, but once again, the trackpad area is exceptionally small. The power button comes with an integrated fingerprint reader.

The laptop weighs around 2.1kgs, which is not very heavy, but for portability, weight below 2kgs is much more preferable. The performance surely is good and so is the battery backup. The juicy i7 processor coupled with 36 gigs of RAM worked really well together. We noticed no sign of lag while using it. Under light usages like typing, video playback, and browsing; on battery, it lasted for more than 6 hours, which is not bad, however not very impressive either.
