Apple is selling its new eighth-generation iPad Mini for $699, marking the first time the company's smallest tablet line has included an OLED screen. The device arrives in stores on November 6, but customers can place orders today at major retailers and the company's own website.
The company revealed the new tablet earlier this week during an event that also featured new MacBook Pro models. This launch follows the 2024 model, which served as the immediate predecessor. By adding OLED technology to the Mini, Apple has given the device the largest display in its history, measuring 8.5 inches.
Despite the larger screen, the new hardware is thinner and lighter than the version released in 2024. Inside, the tablet runs on the new A20 Pro chip. Apple states this processor will deliver faster performance and support new Siri AI capabilities, including the ability for users to customize the assistant's voice.
The design also incorporates an Acoustic Display system that integrates the speakers with the screen and frame. According to Apple, this setup produces louder sound with deeper bass and clearer highs. The tablet also features IP67 water resistance and a 12-megapixel front camera positioned on the long edge to improve landscape video calls.
Connectivity upgrades include the N1 wireless networking chip, which supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Cellular models feature the new C2 modem, offering up to 50 percent faster cellular speeds than the previous generation. The base 128GB Wi-Fi model is available in black or white for $699 at Amazon, Walmart, Target, B&H Photo, and Apple.
Storage options affect both price and performance. The 256GB model costs $799, while the 512GB version is $999 and includes a six-core CPU compared to the five-core unit in lower storage tiers. Best Buy is also accepting preorders and including a $50 e-gift card with each purchase.
Cellular versions start at $849 for the 128GB model. The 256GB and 512GB cellular units cost $949 and $1,149, respectively. Apple offers a nano-texture display option on the higher storage models, raising prices to $899 and $1,099 for Wi-Fi versions. The corresponding LTE configurations cost $1,049 and $1,249.
