Frost returned to the Boston region this morning as many locations outside the city recorded sub-freezing temperatures. The drop in temperature marks a sharp contrast to the warming trend expected later in the week, creating a distinct shift in local conditions for residents.
A warm front is currently moving through the area, bringing increased cloud cover. Afternoon temperatures on Tuesday are projected to reach the mid to upper 50s. Wednesday and Friday will see highs in the mid 60s to near 70 degrees. A cold front will pass through early Friday morning, bringing brief cloud cover and isolated rain spots before the sun returns for the rest of the day.
Wind patterns will shift to the northwest on Friday, with gusts reaching 20 to 30 mph. Although the colder air will take time to settle in, temperatures will decline rapidly in the evening. This cooling sets the tone for Halloween, which is forecast to be seasonably cool.
Halloween conditions will feature highs in the upper 50s and abundant sunshine. A chilly breeze will be present from morning until midday but will weaken in the afternoon. Evening winds will be light, and precipitation is not expected. Temperatures will drop into the 40s after sunset.
The weekend will bring a temperature rebound. Sunday highs are expected to reach the low 60s, while Monday will be milder with highs in the mid to upper 60s. The forecast indicates that wet weather chances will not arrive until the middle of the following week.
This weather pattern allows for dry trick-or-treating conditions and low wind speeds for outdoor activities. The return of milder air signals the end of the early winter chill that affected the region this morning.
