President Donald Trump has rescheduled campaign rallies in Kansas and Iowa, the Republican National Committee confirmed. The Kansas event, a final push in support of incumbent Republican Sen. Roger Marshall, is now set for Sunday at Salina Regional Airport, the same site where the rally was initially planned for Saturday before plans changed.

The RNC said the Salina rally begins at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, with the president expected to speak at 7 p.m. The event will be held at Hangar 509 at the airport, and doors open at 3:30 p.m.

Tickets can be reserved online, but anyone who signed up for the rally originally scheduled on Saturday must register again to attend the Sunday event.

The RNC confirmed that Trump will visit Iowa and Kansas for back-to-back campaign rallies. In Kansas, the U.S. Senate race between Marshall and Democratic candidate Adam Hamilton remains close, with some polls showing Hamilton pulling ahead by a few points.

The RNC initially said, when canceling the rallies, that Trump would hold tele-rallies instead in order to reach more voters. But a person familiar with the latest plans said the Iowa and Kansas rallies have been rearranged to accommodate the new tele-rallies added to the president's schedule. The original plans for the Salina rally were scrapped on Thursday when the tele-rallies were announced.

Tomas Perez of Salina said he is excited that Trump decided to hold a rally after all. "I think it's good for Salina, I really do," Perez said. "You kind of go on the roller coaster for sure. Yeah, you're all excited thinking, 'man, we're gonna get on the map,' then it cancelled out, then decided to come back. So we'll see how it plays out."

Perez is not alone in welcoming the news. "I think it's pretty cool that we got a standing president coming to Salina, Kansas," said Anita Popelka, another Salina resident.

"I think there might be some lingering frustration, maybe a little bit of animosity for him cancelling it in the first place, but the fact that he's coming back, I think everybody's going to be more thrilled than anything," said Brian Berneking of Salina.

Perez, who is checking his schedule to see whether he can attend, expects a mixed crowd. "I think we'll have supporters there. I think we'll have some probably protesters, seems like," he said. "Salina kind of goes both ways there."
