A secret audio recording from a prison visit has been played to a jury in Sydney, capturing the accused’s own words about a fatal double shooting. The file documents a conversation between Beau Lamarre-Condon and a friend during a meeting in December 2025. Lamarre-Condon, 31, stands accused of killing Jesse Baird and Luke Davies with a police service weapon at Baird’s home in Paddington on February 19, 2024. He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder and one charge of aggravated break and enter.

The friend, whose identity was kept from the public, first testified on Friday regarding the encounter. He stated that Lamarre-Condon described the killings as an out-of-body experience. The witness noted that the accused initially tried to frame his confession as a joke. On Monday, the jury heard the actual audio of the prison visit. The recording began with Lamarre-Condon asking his friend to turn around to confirm he was not wearing a wire. The friend replied that he was being paranoid and told him to calm down.

During the conversation, Lamarre-Condon addressed the friend’s earlier statement to police. He claimed the friend was lying about his motivations. Specifically, he denied killing Davies to eliminate a witness and insisted he had acted in self-defense. The friend pushed back on the recording, saying, Don’t you dare switch up. Lamarre-Condon also disputed the nature of the entry into Baird’s home. He argued it was not a break and enter because Baird had previously cut a key for him. He conceded it was trespass but said returning to a former partner’s home to collect belongings was normal.

The accused explained his method of entry on the tape. He said he did not knock because he feared being hit with an apprehended violence order. However, he admitted to calling out hello after walking inside. Lamarre-Condon described his state of mind during the incident. He stated that if he had planned the shooting, he would have been cool, calm, and collected. He said he would have had cleaning supplies ready and would not have used a police firearm.

The recording also includes Lamarre-Condon’s claim that he could have obtained another gun for 10,000 dollars. He mentioned taking his friend to Royal National Park in early 2024 to test the loudness of his weapon. He said he planned to return to that location to end his own life due to suicidality stemming from work trauma. The friend was heard threatening to leave several times during the visit. He told Lamarre-Condon, What you’re telling me mightn’t be the truth. The trial is currently proceeding before Justice Natalie Adams.
