The Westchester County Police Department Narcotics Unit concluded a three-month probe into drug trafficking at the Dunbar Heights public housing complex in Peekskill.
Officers executed a search warrant at a Westchester home this week, ending the investigation that began with suspected narcotics activity at the city's housing project. The operation involved coordinated efforts between the county narcotics unit and the Peekskill Police Department Detective Division.
Police recovered cocaine, oxycodone, and ammunition during the raid. The evidence formed the basis for felony charges against three local men.
Omar Travis, 59, and Rodney Jones, 57, face charges for criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell. Kristopher Gaffney, 57, was charged with felony tampering with physical evidence.
Terrance Raynor, Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Public Safety, said the agency remains committed to aggressively targeting illegal narcotics activity through coordinated law enforcement efforts and continued partnerships with local and federal agencies. He added that the department is grateful to the Peekskill Police Department for its collaboration in this investigation.
Travis was remanded to the Westchester County Jail, while Jones was released on his own recognizance. Both men were arraigned in Peekskill City Court. Gaffney was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Peekskill City Court on Nov. 5.
