Jonathan Taylor faces constant speculation regarding his future with the Indianapolis Colts as the league trade deadline approaches.

The 27-year-old running back has become the central figure in trade discussions this week. The New York Giants are positioned at the front of the market for his services. First-year head coach John Harbaugh in New York employs a system that aligns with Taylor’s skill set. The Colts are reportedly preparing for a major roster shakeup. New York holds first, second, and third-round selections in the 2027 draft. These assets could facilitate a deal involving the star back.

Taylor acknowledged the intensity of the rumors during a media session in Indianapolis on Thursday. He stated that players cannot avoid the internet chatter until the deadline passes. He described his routine as a method to limit exposure to the news. “Internet, all of that stuff. You can’t avoid it,” Taylor said. He explained that he completes necessary online tasks and then disconnects. “But it’s more about trying to block that out,” he added.

The uncertainty surrounding his status has increased over the past two weeks. Taylor noted that the situation had remained stable prior to this recent period. He indicated that the outcome will be determined by a specific time on Tuesday. “Until Tuesday at [4 p.m. ET] where you’ll know exactly what’s going on,” Taylor said.

Taylor has played in eight games during the current season. He has accumulated 610 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. His production dropped sharply in the most recent contest. He gained only 23 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The Colts lost that game by a score of 42 to 7. Taylor did not play during the fourth quarter of that loss.

The trade deadline is scheduled for Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. Teams must finalize transactions by that hour. Taylor will remain with Indianapolis unless a deal is reached before the cutoff. The Giants have not confirmed an offer. The Colts have not announced a decision.
