Three board-certified plastic surgeons assessed recent photographs of Jennifer Lawrence and determined that the 36-year-old actress likely underwent specific cosmetic procedures to refresh her appearance. The medical professionals estimate the cost of these interventions could range from $15,000 to over $30,000 depending on the location and provider.
Dr. Samuel Golpanian, a double board-certified plastic and cosmetic surgeon, stated that Lawrence appears to have had an upper blepharoplasty combined with a lateral brow lift. Golpanian noted that older images show drooping skin near the outer corners of her eyebrows, while recent photos display more open eyes and visible upper eyelids.
"When I look at some of her earlier pictures, particularly around her eyes, there appears to be some drooping of the skin near the outer corners of her eyebrows," Golpanian said. "In the more recent photos, her eyes look noticeably more open and refreshed. You can see more of her upper eyelids, especially toward the outer corners, which gives her a brighter, more youthful appearance."
Dr. Sean McNally, lead provider at Doctor PDX and Réviance in Portland, Oregon, agreed with this assessment. He observed slight asymmetry in Lawrence's eyebrows, with the left side sitting higher than the right, which is consistent with the described surgical techniques. McNally estimated that surgeon and facility fees for these two procedures typically total approximately $15,000. He noted that prices could reach $30,000 or more if performed by a high-end specialist in Los Angeles or Beverly Hills.
Dr. Rozbeh Torabi, a double board-certified plastic surgeon at Elite Plastic Surgery, offered a slightly different perspective. He suggested that subtle changes might also be achieved through non-surgical methods such as Botox, filler, and lasers. Torabi stated that the upper eyelids do not appear surgically altered because the amount of excess skin is minimal.
Golpanian also pointed to changes in Lawrence's facial structure, specifically her cheeks. He observed that her cheeks appear more sculpted and defined in recent images compared to earlier photos where they looked fuller and rounder. He said this change could result from weight loss, potentially involving GLP-1 medications, or from a buccal fat removal procedure. However, he acknowledged that photographs alone cannot confirm the specific cause.
None of the three doctors has treated Lawrence directly. Their evaluations are based entirely on visual comparisons of her public appearances over time. The medical analysis follows a candid interview Lawrence gave to The Cut on Tuesday, in which she discussed her personal views on cosmetic enhancements.
In that interview, the actress revealed that she has previously had a breast lift and expressed a desire to undergo a facelift in the future. Lawrence stated, "I want to be a sexy mom. At drop-off, I want to look like a woman that has her s, t together even when I’ve just woken up and don’t have my s, t together."
Lawrence also launched her new hair care brand, Mes, earlier this week. The introduction of the product line coincided with the public discussion regarding her recent appearance and the medical opinions on the procedures she may have undergone.
The surgeons emphasized that their comments are speculative in nature. Golpanian described Lawrence's look as natural and refreshed, while McNally noted that the results appear subtle. Both doctors agreed that the goal of such procedures is to maintain a recognizable version of the individual rather than creating a different appearance.
