The Los Angeles Lakers entered Tuesday's game at the Moda Center seeking a fifth straight victory, but a balanced Portland Trail Blazers offense dismantled their perfect record. Portland took the 136-129 decision in front of a home crowd, securing its third win of the season while Los Angeles suffered its first defeat of the year.

The Trail Blazers relied on a team effort rather than a single star to close the gap. Deni Avdija recorded 23 points and nine assists, while Ja Morant matched his scoring total with 23 points of his own. Jrue Holiday contributed 22 points coming off the bench, and Damian Lillard added 21 points. The team's perimeter shooting was the primary weapon, as Avdija, Lillard, and Toumani Camara each made four three-pointers. The group finished 18 for 36 from beyond the arc.

Los Angeles countered with a high-scoring performance from Luka Doncic. The veteran forward poured in 41 points and dished out nine assists, building on a 52-point outing against the Utah Jazz two days earlier. Austin Reaves added 26 points and seven assists, helping the Lakers maintain a competitive threat despite the final result. The team shot 56.2 percent from the field and made 17 of 43 three-point attempts.

The game swung back and forth through the final minute. Avdija hit a three-pointer with 2:59 remaining to put Portland up 128-124. Ziaire Williams answered for the Lakers with a three-pointer 23 seconds later to narrow the lead to one point. Morant then sank a floater to restore the three-point cushion with 2:01 on the clock.

Doncic trimmed the deficit to three points with 1:06 left, but Lillard buried a three-pointer to make it 135-129 with 43.1 seconds remaining. The Lakers missed their next two three-point attempts, and Holiday split two free throws to extend the lead to seven points with 18.3 seconds left, effectively ending the game.

Portland's lead had wavered earlier in the contest. The Lakers held a 79-68 advantage at the start of the third quarter after a strong finish to the first half by Sandro Mamukelashvili and Austin Reaves. Los Angeles led 97-88 late in the third, but Portland outscored them 14-2 over a stretch of the period to trail by only one point at the start of the fourth. Lillard and Camara hit consecutive three-pointers in the final quarter to put Portland ahead by eight points, though a 10-2 Lakers run tied the game at 116 with 5:33 remaining.

Robert Williams III provided interior support for Portland with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Donovan Clingan added nine points and 10 rebounds. For the Lakers, Walker Kessler finished with 13 points and Ziaire Williams contributed 11. The result leaves Portland with a 3-0 record and Los Angeles at 3-1.
