Nicolás "Colate" Vallejo-Nágera stated that his legal battle over custody of his son cost him more than one million euros. The Spanish businessman shared these details during a recent interview on the podcast "Zodiac," produced by the Spanish magazine Vanitatis.

Vallejo-Nágera spoke to the media after Mexican singer Paulina Rubio won the custody lawsuit for their son, Andrea Nicolás Vallejo-Nágera Rubio. The child was born on November 14, 2010, in Miami, Florida. The legal conflict lasted at least two years.

The entrepreneur said the legal fees and associated expenses drained his resources. He noted that the process consumed years of his life that he would have preferred to spend on other activities. He described the experience as frustrating, citing not only the monetary loss but also the energy spent and the lack of understanding from others.

While the court ruling was issued, media outlets in the United States and Mexico reported on Rubio's financial situation. Reports indicated that she faced severe financial strain that led her to sell properties. This occurred alongside the conclusion of the custody dispute.

Vallejo-Nágera, who currently resides in Extremadura, Spain, reflected on his time as Rubio's husband. He said he had good memories of their relationship before the marriage. He noted that the early years were fun and that he holds his son as the best part of his life, even if they did not manage the situation perfectly.

The businessman called marriage the worst business deal of his life. He responded to critics who had labeled him as interested in the relationship by pointing out that he had financially ruined himself in the process. He emphasized the personal cost of the union beyond the initial attraction.
