Minnesota lost its 11-game winning streak on Sunday in a 19-15 defeat to the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. The result marked the Vikings' first loss in 329 days, ending a stretch that began in December of last season and spanned four different starting quarterbacks.

The team had led the NFL in turnover margin at plus-13 during that run and allowed only 11.5 points per game. That statistical dominance did not hold up in Detroit, where the defense missed more than a dozen tackles. Detroit's rushing attack gained 230 yards on the ground, a season high for the Lions under Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores since Week 2 of the 2023 campaign. Jahmyr Gibbs accounted for 153 of those yards.

Offensive execution was inconsistent from the opening drive. Kicker Will Reichard missed a 57-yard field goal attempt early in the game. Quarterback Kyler Murray finished 17-for-29 for 210 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw an interception with less than two minutes remaining in the first half. Murray rushed for 35 yards on four carries, leading the team on the ground. Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones, Sr., carried for 20 and 22 yards respectively, while DeeJay Dallas added four yards on one carry.

The Vikings scored 15 points, including a one-handed goal-line touchdown catch by Justin Jefferson and a 51-yard reception by Jordan Addison. Murray connected with T.J. Hockenson for an 8-yard touchdown and completed a 2-point conversion pass to Addison to take a 15-12 lead with nine minutes remaining. Jefferson caught five of nine targets for 33 yards, while Hockenson had four receptions for 58 yards.

Detroit reclaimed the lead on a 69-yard drive that ended with a short touchdown pass to Jameson Williams. The Vikings failed to score on their next possession, going three-and-out in under 90 seconds after a false start and a fumble. The Lions managed the clock to seal the victory in their final possession.

Head Coach Kevin O'Connell said the team must maintain urgency and avoid self-inflicted errors. He noted that the defense had opportunities to capitalize on momentum but failed to convert them into points. T.J. Hockenson stated that the offensive unit must get its timing right, while Murray acknowledged the inconsistency in execution against a strong opponent.

The loss brings the Vikings to a 9-1 record on the season. The team will return to practice this week to prepare for their next matchup.
