The Washington Commanders defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 on Sunday night in Landover, Maryland. Washington scored 27 consecutive points after a disjointed opening quarter. The result snapped Philadelphia’s six-game losing streak and marked Washington’s first victory in more than a month.

The Commanders (2-4-1) fell behind 10-0 early due to a string of penalties. Saquon Barkley ran for a 3-yard touchdown to give the Eagles their only early lead. Washington’s Drew Stevens missed a 55-yard field goal, and Chig Okonkwo fumbled. However, Stevens connected on a 56-yard kick late in the first quarter to cut the deficit.

Jayden Daniels threw for 217 yards and a touchdown. He connected with Stefon Diggs for an 8-yard score in the second quarter, tying the game at 10. Washington led 13-10 at halftime. Daniels had time to build chemistry with his receivers in the absence of Terry McLaurin. This was his first win as a starter since beating the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 5, 2025.

The Commanders defense dominated the final three quarters. They recorded five sacks and one interception against Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee. McKee, starting for the injured Jalen Hurts, threw for 212 yards without a touchdown. The Eagles were held to 199 yards of total offense before a final drive. Their longest drive prior to that sequence was 52 yards.

Coach Dan Quinn said the team needed time to warm up after the bye week. "When you come off of a bye, you either rev right up or you need a minute to warm up, and we took a minute," Quinn said. Cornerback Trey Amos noted that the group made adjustments. "We started a little bit slow, those things will happen sometimes, but after those adjustments, everybody came together," Amos said.

Barkley carried the ball 13 times for 30 yards. Philadelphia finished with 91 rushing yards. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni acknowledged the team’s current standing. "I know nobody feels sorry for us, that’s for damn sure," Sirianni said. He stated the team must fix its issues to avoid this feeling for the remaining six games.

Jake Elliott of Philadelphia missed a 41-yard field goal in the fourth quarter after an illegal formation penalty forced a retry. The Eagles remain in last place in the NFC East. The Commanders sit two games behind the first-place New York Giants. Both teams host opponents on Sunday, with Washington facing the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia hosting the Giants.

Safety Michael Carter suffered an abdominal injury for the Eagles. Commanders running back Jeremy McNichols left the game with a left foot injury. Daniels stayed in the game after taking a hard hit late in the first half.
