Ukrainian drone operators launched a large-scale assault on Voronezh during the night of October 25 and 26, 2026. The attack targeted two major industrial sites: the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association and the Voronezhsintezkauchuk rubber plant. Both facilities sustained damage, with fires reported at each location.
The Voronezhsintezkauchuk facility is owned by the Sibur group. It produces synthetic rubbers and polymer materials. VASO operates under the Ilyushin Aviation Complex division of the United Aircraft Corporation. The plant manufactures aviation components and builds the Ilyushin Il-96 jet airliner. Ukrainian OSINT channels Supernova+ and Exilenova+ confirmed both sites as primary targets.
Aleksandr Gusev, the Governor of Voronezh Oblast, spoke to Interfax about the damage. He stated that fires broke out at several industrial businesses. Gusev described the incidents as having no significant consequences. He did not name the specific companies in his initial statement. This account differs from reports by local media that described extensive damage to the facilities.
Gusev reported that air defense units downed more than 70 drones directly over the city. When including the wider urban area and surrounding districts, the total number of intercepted drones reached 113. The high volume indicates a coordinated effort to saturate air defense systems. The governor also listed fires at a business centre, an apartment building, two dacha settlements, a school stadium, and a garage cooperative.
Russian media outlet Astra provided specific impact locations. They identified a hit on the Galereya Chizhova business centre at 35A Koltsovskaya Street. Explosions were also recorded near residential buildings on 52A 25th Yanvarya Street and 4K Arkhitektora Troitskovo Street. Damage to building facades and windows was recorded in nearly every district of the city, showing the wide reach of the blast effects.
Residents of the Uritsky residential complex on 135 Uritskovo Street reported further damage. At a car park on 275/1 45th Strelkovoy Divizii Street, at least ten cars burned. Readers of Astra reported hearing explosions and air defense sounds for over an hour. The city remained covered in smoke during the engagement. No formal air-raid warning was issued before the strikes began.
Local authorities are currently assessing the full extent of the damage to public and private property. The attack targeted key nodes in Russia's aviation and petrochemical sectors. The volume of drones intercepted suggests a strategic aim to test the limits of the region's air defense capabilities.
