Salvador Zerboni exited Telemundo’s 'Juego de Villanos' as the fourth contestant, following the departures of Yina Calderón, Sandra Itzel, and Álex Ghita. The actor, who spoke with the portal Hoy Día on Wednesday, attributed his removal to a shift in his personality that made him less suited for the competitive environment.
Zerboni described himself as a villain with a heart, a trait he believes worked against him during the broadcast. He noted that his time on 'Top Chef' and other reality programs softened his demeanor. He acknowledged that this change in character was a factor in his elimination, despite being regarded by former housemates as one of the stronger competitors.
The actor singled out Sergio Mayer as the source of a specific betrayal. Zerboni stated that he never anticipated the move, which he felt cost him dearly. He explained that he accepted an off-air phone call from Mayer, believing it was an opportunity to form an alliance within the villa.
While the show’s format permits deception and cheating among participants, Zerboni expressed regret over trusting Mayer. He said he was disappointed by the interaction and felt he paid a heavy price for the misstep. Mayer remains in the house as a remaining competitor.
Zerboni concluded his comments by suggesting that a few troublesome individuals are still present in the villa. His departure leaves the field of remaining contestants to continue the competition without the Mexican actor’s influence.
