The Detroit Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings 19-15 on Sunday in Detroit, ending Minnesota's 10-game winning streak. The victory marked the Vikings' first loss of the 2026 season. Despite the win, the Lions kept their celebration low-key after All-Pro linebacker Jack Campbell was transported to a hospital with a neck injury.

Coach Dan Campbell described the outcome as bittersweet. Campbell had been playing well until a tackle in the fourth quarter left him motionless face down on the turf. He was placed on a backboard and carted off the field. Jared Goff noted the emotional weight of the moment, calling it scary and emphasizing Campbell's role as a husband and father.

The game featured a strong defensive effort by Detroit. The Lions defense limited Minnesota to a three-and-out possession in the final minutes. Detroit's rushing attack dominated the second half, recording 164 yards on the ground. This performance pushed their total to 230 yards, a notable figure against a Minnesota unit that had allowed fewer than 100 rushing yards per game prior to the contest.

Jahmyr Gibbs led the Detroit offense with 153 rushing yards. He scored a 30-yard touchdown in the third quarter after breaking a tackle. Goff completed 18 of 25 passes for 176 yards. He threw one touchdown and his first interception of the season. The go-ahead score came with 4 minutes and 35 seconds remaining when Goff threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jameson Williams.

The Vikings, who had won their first six games, faced a tough decision late in the game. Coach Kevin O'Connell chose to punt on fourth down from his own 33-yard line instead of attempting a play. O'Connell stated that the team trusted its defense to make a stop. Minnesota's defense had previously led the league in efficiency, but it could not hold onto a late lead.

Minnesota's offense struggled with balance. Kyler Murray passed for 210 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. The team managed only 81 total rushing yards. Justin Jefferson caught a 1-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, and Jordan Addison contributed to a two-point conversion. The score remained tight throughout, with Detroit taking a 7-6 lead in the second quarter and Minnesota retaking the lead 15-12 in the fourth quarter before the final drive.

Both teams have immediate upcoming fixtures. The Vikings will host the Buffalo Bills on Monday, November 9. The Lions will travel to play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Minnesota's loss ends a streak that began on November 30, 2025, when they lost to the Seattle Seahawks.
