Meta Names Former NBC Veteran Rich Latour to Head New Content Unit

Meta Platforms has appointed Rich Latour as vice president of its in-house content studio. The new executive role places Latour in charge of social and content teams within the company’s communications and public affairs division.

Latour will report directly to Tucker Bounds, who serves as Meta’s head of communications and public affairs. His primary responsibility involves developing and executing the company’s content strategy. This mandate covers four distinct areas: brand storytelling, executive social media, product content support, and international social content.

The brand storytelling component focuses on the Meta brand and its impact on local communities. The executive social initiative aims to amplify brand-level messages using the voices of top company executives. Product content support will prioritize social platforms, while international social content will handle global outreach.

Latour joins Meta from BlackRock, where he served as managing director and global head of content, creative, and events. In that role, he led the investment firm’s global content strategy. Prior to his time at BlackRock, Latour worked as a vice president of digital content at Goldman Sachs.

Before joining the financial sector, Latour spent nearly two decades at NBC News. He worked as a producer and senior producer on NBC Nightly News. During his tenure there, he received four Emmy Awards and two Edward R. Murrow Awards.

The appointment coincides with Meta’s shift toward artificial intelligence through its Muse agent and virtual and augmented reality via its glasses and headsets. While current revenues and profits remain concentrated in Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, the company is positioning content as a larger part of its portfolio. The new studio is outward-facing and focused on telling Meta’s story.
