The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Utah Mammoth 6-3 on Sunday to end a three-game winless streak. Travis Konecny played his first game in ten days, contributing a goal and an assist in the victory.
Konecny had missed 10 games due to a lower-body injury. He scored his first goal of the season at 1:06 of the second period, banking a shot past Utah goalie Karel Vejmelka to make the score 2-1. Later in the game, Konecny assisted on a one-timer by Christian Dvorak, which extended the Flyers' lead to 4-1. He also recorded four hits during the match.
Owen Tippett returned to the lineup after missing the last six games with an upper-body injury. Matvei Michkov scored the Flyers' first goal, banking a shot past Vejmelka for his 10th of the season. Michkov became the first Flyer to score 10 goals in his first 17 games since Konecny achieved that mark in 2023. Dvorak and Noah Cates each finished with a goal and an assist. Oliver Bonk also scored for Philadelphia.
Dan Vladar made 19 saves for the Flyers. For Utah, Dmitri Simashev scored the first goal, and Mikhail Sergachev added a late power-play goal. Logan Cooley scored his eighth goal of the season while playing with the extra attacker. Cole Knuble finished the game with an empty-net goal. Vejmelka made 15 saves in the loss.
The Mammoth have alternated wins and losses over their past eight games. They continue a six-game road trip in Toronto on Tuesday. The Flyers host Minnesota on Tuesday night.
