A new permanent exhibition space for the Japanese digital art collective TeamLab will cost the Samueli family more than $100 million to build in Anaheim, California. The developers plan to open the facility in 2030.
Bloomberg reported on Thursday that the billionaire owners of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks have finalized the deal. The project will serve as a central feature of OCVIBE, a larger development intended to transform approximately 100 acres of land surrounding the Honda Center into a multiuse district. The planned area will include housing, offices, hotels, and an entertainment zone.
The Samueli family will fully fund the construction of the TeamLab space. A California-based architecture firm, Smith-Clementi, is designing the building. The new venue will be located 30 miles south of Los Angeles and roughly 10 minutes by car from Disneyland.
Founded in Tokyo in 2001 by Toshiyuki Inoko, TeamLab operates as an international collective of artists, programmers, engineers, and mathematicians. The group creates immersive experiences that blend art, science, and technology. The collective currently maintains permanent exhibition spaces in Macao, Shanghai, Beijing, Jeddah, and Hamburg.
Developers expect the Anaheim location to match the popularity of existing sites. TeamLab stated that its two venues in Tokyo attracted more than 4.2 million visitors in 2025. The announcement included rendered images of the proposed space, which depict the interior layout and design elements of the future building.
