A computer simulation has projected a combined 56 points for a Wednesday night Conference USA football game in Las Cruces, N.M. Jacksonville State and New Mexico State will meet at Aggie Memorial Stadium at 8 p.m. ET. The Gamecocks enter the contest as a three-point favorite. The over/under total for the game is set at 49.5 points.

Jacksonville State holds a 5-2 overall record and a 3-0 mark in conference play. The team relies heavily on quarterback Caden Creel. Creel utilizes his ability to run the ball to extend plays. This dual-threat approach creates pressure on opposing defenses. New Mexico State is 3-4 on the season. The Aggies are attempting to remain competitive in the league standings under quarterback Trey Hedden.

SportsLine, which provides the projections, ran the matchup 10,000 times in its model. The results favored the over on the 49.5 point total. The model indicated that the over is the value side in 65 percent of the simulations. The computer also identified one side of the spread that hits in more than 50 percent of the scenarios. This specific spread pick is available through the SportsLine service.

Recent scoring trends support the high total prediction. Jacksonville State has gone over the point total in its last two games. Four of the Gamecocks' last five contests have also exceeded the projected score. New Mexico State went over the total in its most recent game. These results align with the model's expectation of a high-scoring affair.

The SportsLine model entered Week 9 with a 68-59 record on top-rated college football picks. The service reported that players following these selections could have returned nearly $400 on $100 wagers. The model simulates every FBS game 10,000 times to generate its predictions.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday. The game is a key matchup in the Conference USA race. Jacksonville State seeks to maintain its perfect conference record. New Mexico State aims to secure a win to stay relevant in the standings. The betting market currently favors the visiting Gamecocks.
